WELCOME to Atlanta Township - Logan County Illinois!
Atlanta Township, in which the City of Atlanta resides, was established on November 7, 1865. As of the 2020 census, the population of the township was 2,124 with 859 housing units. The township has a total area of 24.2 square miles. Atlanta Township maintains the Atlanta Cemetery located at 2300 - 1975th Avenue. The township is served by
Olympia School District 16.
Township Board responsibilities include the following:
1) maintenance of roads and bridges in the township outside federal, state, and other local jurisdictions,
2) maintenance and assistance for services at the Atlanta Cemetery,
3) general assistance for qualifying residents,
4) assessment of real property for the basis of local taxation.

Monthly Township Board meetings are open to the public. The Atlanta Township Board meets at 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the Township Building, 310 S. W. Arch Street, Atlanta.
